Ordinales

Para un inglés, los números ordinales en castellano suponen un infierno. Lo tienes más fácil para aprenderlos en inglés. Los problemáticos son los tres primeros: first, second y third, y el quinto (éste por la pronunciación). Para todos los demás hasta el vigésimo, simplemente añadimos un "th" al número. Veamos los fáciles:

Enrique octavo se divorció de su cuarta mujer, ejecutó a la quinta y le sobrevivió la sexta.	Henry the Eighth divorced his fourth wife, executed the fifth and was survived by the sixth.
Luis XV era el bisnieto de Luis XIV y el abuelo de Luis XVI.	Louis the fifteenth was Louis the fourteenth's great grandson and Louis the sixteenth's grandfather.
El atleta español terminó en sexta posición, el británico terminó séptimo y el turco octavo.	The Spanish athlete came sixth, the British one seventh and the Turkish one eighth.
Estaré disponible los días 13, 14 y 15 de abril.	I will be available on the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth of April.
La Ilustración tuvo lugar en el siglo XVIII, mientras que la Revolución Industrial se produjo en el siglo XIX.	The Enlightenment took place during the eighteenth century whereas the Industrial Revolution came about in the nineteenth century.

Para todos los.primeros, .segundos y .terceros siempre usamos ".first", ".second" y ".third". Por otro lado el undécimo, duodécimo y trigésimo se dicen "eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth".

Nací el día 21 de enero, mientras que mi hermano nació el día 31.	I was born on the twenty-first of January whereas my brother was born on the thirty-first.
Mi tía vive en la calle 42 y mi primo en la calle 53.	My aunt lives on forty-second street and my cousin on fifty-third street.
Mi tío abuelo está a punto de celebrar su nonagésimo tercer cumpleaños.	My great uncle is about to celebrate his ninety-third birthday.
Mi madre celebró una gran fiesta para su sexagésimo primero, su sexagésimo segundo y su sexagésimo tercer cumpleaños.	My mother held a big party for her sixty-first, her sixty-second and sixty-third birthdays.
Los conciertos números 11, 12 y 13 de Mozart se escribieron antes de que alcanzara su madurez artística.	Mozart's eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth piano concertos were written before he reached his artistic maturity.
