THE STRAW THAT BREAKS THE CAMEL'S BACK
- meaning that there is a limit to everyone's endurance,
or everyone has his breaking point.
- the last in a series of unpleasant events which finally makes you feel that you cannot continue to accept a bad situation.
e.g. Losing my job was bad enough but having the relationship end like that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
"He came to work late every day that week. Then on Friday, he didn't show up at all." Reply: "That was the straw that broke the camel's back."
