get into, get in/get on

Cuando subimos a un coche o entramos en un ascensor decimos "to get into / in",
mientras que para medios de transporte más grandes (autobuses, aviones, trenes)
decimos "to get on".

- No entres en el coche.

Get on the plane, please.
- Entra en el avión, por favor.

No diremos nunca "near to" ni "near of" sino:

It's near Madrid
- Esta cerca de Madrid.

Cuando hacemos referencia a un pasado muy reciente, el equivalente de "antes" será más comunmente "earlier" que "before".

It's a good thing I didn't call you earlier! - ¡Menos mal que no te llamé antes!

"there + to be..left"

Para decir "quedar algo" se emplea la expresión "there + to be..left".

There's a lot of food left.
Queda mucha comida.

don't use "much" in affirmative sentences

Nunca se emplea "much" en el afirmativo.

I don't have much time. She has a lot of time.

go to bed

No se dice nunca "go to the bed".
Cuando nos referimos a la cama como un sitio donde dormir en lugar del mueble en sí, omitimos el artículo.
I usually go to bed at 11 o'clock.

for "x" years, months...

Para decir "desde hace un período de tiempo" se utiliza la palabra "for" más el periodo de tiempo.

I've been a teacher for 32 years.

Quiero que haya: I want there to be...

I want there to be a hostess at the meeting.

"Quiero que haya..." = "I want there to be."
