Barnum  said:
"The American people love to be humbugged."
That is the legacy that captivated L. Frank Baum, who fashioned his Wizard character as a self-confessed "humbug" of the highest order. "Barnum was right that the American people liked to be deceived," Baum wrote in an 1890 newspaper column. Frank put his finger on a core truth about the American character: that if something seems too good to be true, we want in on it. But we also love when the deception is revealed, when the curtain is drawn wide open.

buffy saint-marie, amazing women and amazing song

UP WHERE WE BELONG
Who knows what tomorrow brings
In a world where few hearts survive
All i know is the way i feel
When its real i keep it alive
The road is long there are mountains in the way

Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles fly on a mountan high
Love lift us up where we belong
Far from the world below
Where the clear winds blow

Some hang on to usued to be
Live there life looking behind
All we have is here and now
All our lives out there to find
The road is long and there are mountains in my way
But we climb the stairs everyday
CHORUS
Time goes by no time to cry
Just you and i alone

SHADOW
Boys and girls of every age
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?
SIAMESE SHADOW

This, our town of Halloween
PUMPKIN PATCH CHORUS

Trick or treat till the neighbours gonna die of
fright
It's our town, everybody scream
In this town of Halloween
CREATURE UNDER BED
I am the one hiding under your bed
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red
MAN UNDER THE STA[RS
I am the one hiding under your stairs
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair
CORPSE CHORUS
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
VAMPIRES
In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song
MAYOR
In this town, don't we love it now?
Everybody's waiting for the next surprise
CORPSE CHORUS
Round that corner, man hiding in the trash can
Something's waiting now to pounce, and how
you'll scream
HARLEOUIN DEMON, WEREWOLF,
AND MELTING MAN
Scream! This is Halloween
Red 'n' black, slimy green
WEREWOLF
Aren't you scared?
WITCHES
Well, that's just fine
Say it once, say it twice
Take the chance and roll the dice
Ride with the moon in the dead of night
HANGING TREE
Everybody scream, everybody scream
HANGED MEN
In our town of Halloween
CLOWN
I am the clown with the tear-away face
Here in a flash and gone without a trace
SECOND GHOUL
I am the "who" when you call, "Who's there?"
I am the wind blowing through your hair
OOGIE BOOGIE SHADOW
I am the shadow on the moon at night
Filling your dreams to the brim with fright

Bill Murray reads a poem ...

This is a beautiful video, showing the construction of NYC's Poets House, along with a reading of several poems, including Emily Dickinson's lovely poem, "I dwell in Possibility," by actor Bill Murray, and ending with a short segment where some of the guys introduce themselves. This poetry reading was the first to take place at the Poets House new home. It's really fitting that those who constructed the building should be so honored, don't you think?
I dwell in Possibility--
A fairer House than Prose--
More numerous of Windows--
Superior--for Doors--

Of Chambers as the Cedars--
Impregnable of Eye--
And for an Everlasting Roof
The Gambrels of the Sky--

Of Visitors--the fairest--
For Occupation--This--
The spreading wide my narrow Hands
To gather Paradise--

Argument Clinic

A touch of class

Basil is delighted when a member of the aristocracy chooses to stay at the Fawlty Towers, snubbing the normal guests who frequent the hotel. What Basil does not know, however, is that the man is not a Lord but a confidence trickster who attempts to steal his collection of rare coins. As Basil's desperation to keep such an 'upstanding' guest increases, he becomes increasingly tolerant towards the man's behavior, only to have the guest arrested in a police raid on the hotel.

Nothing-s gonna change my love for you

If I had to live my life without you near me
The days would all be empty
The nights would seem so long
With you I see forever oh so clearly
I might have been in love before
But it never felt this strong

Our dreams are young
And we both know
they'll take us
Where we want to go

Hold me now Touch me now
I don't want to live without you

Nothing's gonna change my love for you
You ought know by now how much I love you
One thing you can be sure of
I'll never ask for more than your love

(Chorus 3)
Nothing's gonna change my love
for you You ought know by now how much I love you
The world may change my whole life through
But nothing's gonna change my love for you

If the road ahead is not so easy,
Our love will lead the way for us
Like a guiding star
I'll be there for you if you should need me
You don't have to change a thing
I love you
just the way you are
So come with me and share the view
I'll help you see forever too

slepping satelite

I blame you for the moonlit sky
and the dream that died
with the eagles flight
I blame you for the moonlit nights
when I wonder why
are the seas still dry?
don't blame this sleeping satellite

did we fly to the moon too soon?
did we squander the chance?
in the rush of the race
the reason we chase is lost in romance
and still we try
to justify the waste
for a taste of man's gratest adventure

I blame you for the moonlit sky
and the dream that died
with the eagles flight
I blame you for the moonlit nights
when I wonder why
are the seas still dry?
don't blame this sleeping satellite

have we got what it takes to advance?
have we peak too soon?
if the world is so great
then why does it scream under a blue moon?
we wonder why
if the earth's sacrificed
for the price of its greatest treasure

I blame you for the moonlit sky
and the dream that died
with the eagles flight
I blame you for the moonlit nights
when I wonder why
are the seas still dry?
don't blame this sleeping satellite

and when we shoot for the stars
what a giant step
have we got what it takes
to carry the weight of this concept?
or pass it by
like a shot in the dark
miss the mark with a sense of adventure

I blame you for the moonlit sky
and the dream that died
with the eagles flight
I blame you for the moonlit nights
when I wonder why
are the seas still dry?
don't blame this sleeping satellite
